Project Description
This homestay resort project serves as a powerful example of sustainable and context-driven architecture. The initial project brief was to design a retreat using eco-friendly materials, with an initial focus on mud construction. However, a site visit revealed an abundance of naturally occurring quartzite rocks, prompting a pivotal design change to a stone-based architectural approach. This decision not only honors the site's geology but also minimizes the environmental footprint by utilizing locally sourced, non-processed materials.

The master plan is intentionally designed to be sensitive to the landscape. It strategically places small, independent buildings—comprising six guest rooms, a restaurant, a kitchen, staff quarters, and a home for the clients—within the existing clearings of the one-acre plot. This careful approach avoids the need to clear any of the mature apple trees, preserving the natural serenity and established ecosystem of the site. The built forms themselves are designed to blend harmoniously with their surroundings, their stone facades reflecting the rugged beauty of the valley. Each space is meticulously crafted to offer guests and residents a profound sense of privacy and a deep, immersive connection with the breathtaking natural environment.
